Hey there,
I am Carlo Knapp, an economist working at the intersection of financial markets, regulation and public policy. In particular, I am involved in the following topics:
- Financial Regulation
- Monetary Policy
- Political Economy
- Austerity & Populism
- Public Debt
- IMF Programs
- Capital Market-Based Pensions
- Cultural Economics
Empirically founded research can be a significant driver of policy change. With my work I want to contribute to a better understanding of economic relationships and, ideally, help to improve the framework conditions of our society.
I am currently enrolled in the MSc in Economic Research at the University of Bonn. Previously, I completed my MSc in Economics at the London School of Economics and worked as a risk analyst for the German Bundesbank in the Empirical Banking and Financial Supervision Department, as a research assistant for the German Bundestag and in strategy and communications consultancies.
On this website, you can find selected parts of my work. My studies are supported by the German Academic Exchange Service and the Foundation of German Business. I am most grateful to both institutions.
