About me

Hey there,

I am Carlo Knapp, a young economist interested in research in macro-finance, financial stability and public economics. In particular, I am involved in the following topics:

  • IMF Programs
  • Austerity & Populism
  • Public Debt
  • Monetary Policy
  • Financial Stability
  • Capital Market-Based Pensions

Empirically founded research can be a significant driver of policy change. With my research I want to contribute to a better understanding of economic relationships and, ideally, help to improve the framework conditions of our society.

I am currently pursuing my PhD at the Bonn Graduate School of Economics. Previously, I completed my Master in Economics at the London School of Economics and worked as a risk analyst for the German Bundesbank in the Empirical Banking and Financial Supervision Department, as a research assistant for the German Bundestag and in some consultancies.

On this website, you can find some parts of my academic work. My work is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service and the Foundation of German Business. I am most grateful to both institutions.
